1886 Karl Benz Motorwagon The first car

$17.95

A woodworking plan to build this product.  Not a wood toy.  Should be displayed in a safe location.  Full size patterns and detail photos, text and drawings

Description

Car: 9 1/2″ long x 5 1/2″ wide x 6″ high

Display base: 16″ long x 9 3/4″ deep

Stop and Go traffic sign, 7″ high

The first automobile was produced by Karl Benz in Germany in 1886.  It was a work of art and could reached 10 mph.

The car built from this plan, is nearly all wood.  Some metal is used including 20 gauge wire for the wheels, small link chain for the drive system and a few other wire details.  It will be relatively fragile and should be displayed away from curious hands.  Display in a glass case, or on a display base like the one outlined in this plan.  Many parts on this project, especially the motor, are just suggestive of the actual engine.  If more detail is desired, refer to photos or videos on the Internet searching under Karl Benz or Motorwagon.  This project is suggested for intermediate to advanced woodworkers.  Color photos of a finished wood version can be seen at:  www.foreststreetdesigns.com   or at the site where you purchased this plan.

Every pattern is full size and shown with bold lines.  Ample photos, drawings and text accompany the patterns.  The plan includes information for making the display base,  description plaque and early intersection stand.   The plan details with full size drawings how to make the three realistic wheels using wire for the spokes.  Unique seating instructions for a realistic leather seat with accent buttons.  All detailed in the plan.

See many more early cars, trains, fire engines plus many other wheeled “toy” vehicles.
