The Close and Carry Barbie ® House woodworking plan is an excellent project for building a compact, easy to move about Barbie House that opens to a six foot long play space. The house is full of fun features. It is nearly all wood. The built-in handle makes it easy to move for play or storage. It opens to a spacious home then opens further with yard extensions to the left and right. In the left half of the house is an ornamental fold-down bed with pillows. There is a mirrored dresser and stool next to an armoire that opens for Barbie’s clothes. An ironing board folds down from the inside and a wood iron stores nearby. The right side of Barbie’s home has a stylish fireplace with double columns and routed wood appointments. A mantle clock and framed picture are over the mantle. A table, two lamps and a Vienna regulator clock accompany a pillow covered sofa. Stylish windows are bordered with shutters and a planter. The fold-out extension on the left features an apple tree, an arbor with gates and garden implements. The extension to the right includes a fence, garden bench, potted plants, and a yard light. Barbie’s pets are nearby. Vine and floral works cover exterior walls with hummingbirds and butterflies. Easy to make shingles top the roof. It all folds into a compact case only 24″ long, 16″ deep and 18″ high. Most patterns are full size. Photographs in the plan help visualize various steps. This heirloom project can be a major presentation at Christmas or for a birthday for Barbie fanciers. For intermediate woodworkers.
Both the painted and hardwood versions are shown. Our 11″ x 17″ plans take little workbench space. The copyrights allow making a photocopy of the full size patterns.
